  11:56 am

This was driving Jill crazy. It was almost lunch time and they still didn't have any clients. She tapped her tablet, turning another page in the third book she was reading this week. "This is crazy," she announced.

  "Debatable term," Deadguy responded.

"You have a better idea," Valkadaidan asked.

"We could have a mini art contest," DG suggested.

  "No," Valk growled.

"We have any board games around here?"

  "No."

  "Slam poetry?"

  "No."

Their boss looked down at her tablet's clock. "How about we get some lunch," she offered.

"Great," Deadguy agreed. "You can go get it."

  "Excuse me," she asked.

"Hey, you guys said that whoever brings it up has to buy. Dem's da rules."

She sighed. "Alright, I'll go get lunch. Who wants what?"

"A Number Three is fine," Valk said.

  "A Number Three from where?"

"Wherever you stop at. Everywhere has a Number Three."

  "Fine. Deadguy?"

He sat at his desk with his head cradled by his hand. "Oo! Get me nachos."

  "From where?"

"Do you even have to ask?"

"I'm not going all the way out there."

"I'll call it in," he replied, already dialing the number.

"Fine. Nachos and a Number Three. I'll be back in thirty."

  12:36pm

Jill came back with two bags of lunch and a locked front door. There had better be a good reason it's locked, she thought. She placed one of the bags down and fished the keys out of her pocket. The phone on the front desk rang, causing her to start fumbling with her keys. She raced in and lunged over to grab the phone. "Professional Heroes. Jill Nemo speaking."

"Boss," Deadguy voice questioned on the other side. "Where's Valk?"

"Where's Valk," she repeated. "Where's Valk?! Where are you? You're suppose to be here waiting for clients."

"I was," he defended. "but I got bored and decided to go out and find some clients."

  "And...?"

"...and I thought while I was out, I'll pick up my comics, but then I realized I forgot my wallet and called up-"

"Just get back here," she ordered, cutting him off. She then slammed the phone back on the cradle. Where was Valkadaidan, she asked herself. It's kind of expected that Deadguy would pull a stunt like this, but not him. Maybe he's in trouble. "Valk," she called out. "Valk." No response. "Valkadaidan," she yelled, dropping the other bag of food and rushing to the break room. It was empty. Her fear grew. What if he got into a fight? What if he was kidnapped? What if...?

The emergency exit opened, breaking through her panic. Valkadaidan strolled in, Unmei no owari in hand. He was only wearing his white undershirt and baggy pants. He stopped to look at her. "Back with lunch," he asked. "Just in time.

Her face went from shock to relief to upset. "Where were you," she complained.

"I got some training in on the roof while Deadguy was gone," he stated. "Only way to get some peace and quiet while doing it."

"Don't make me worry like that," she fussed, hitting him on the arm.

Valkadaidan looked down at where she hit him. She became a little concerned. "Sorry," he said softly. "I didn't mean to make you worry."

"Good," she said with a little more confidence. "See that it doesn't happen again."

  12:40 pm

Deadguy walked into the office, shaking the snow off his trench coat. "Weather needs to make up it's mind," he grumbled.

"You know that doesn't happen this time of year," Jill remarked, eating a small forkful of salad. "The Witches of Winter and Sorceresses of Spring battling back and forth. Some still want the cold, while the others want an early Spring."

He opened the door. "Well they can stop using my city as a battleground," he yelled into the air. There was a clap of thunder, as if one of the witches or sorceresses was about to challenge him. "Don't tempt me! I have a mythical baseball bat."

"Deadguy. Nachos," Valkadaidan said, trying to prevent the weather war from falling upon them. Our Hero left the door and quickly rushed to his desk.

"Yay, nachos," he said. "Nature's most perfect food." The three sat in silence, eating lunch. "This is crap," he announced. Jill and Valk looked over as he grabbed the smaller table he and Valk were playing on earlier and sat it in the middle of the desks. He wheeled his chair from his desk to the table and continued eating his nachos. Jill grabbed her salad and slowly wheeled her way over, sitting at the side closest to her desk. She looked over to the Dragon Blooded and patted the area of the table close to him. He glared for a moment, then rolled his chair over. Jill smiled, looking over her boys. Deadguy gave her a enthusiastic thumbs up, Valk just smirked. "You know, I had the weirdest thing happen to me on the way back from the comic shop..." he started.
